Obituary

Irene Wyler, 95, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs. She was born November 23, 1919 in Paris, Idaho to Herbert Leo and Sygje den Engelse Spencer. She was raised and educated in Paris graduating from Fielding High School in 1937. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and married Charles "Chick" Wyler April 10, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their life working in the cheese making industry starting in Paris until 1958, then moving to Thatcher until 1972, then on to Nampa where they lived and worked until Chick retired in April 1992 and they moved to Soda Springs to enjoy "retired" life. Chick passed away unexpectedly after surgery on November 7, 1992. She enjoyed life and lived it independently until she was 93. She was a member of Caribou Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) and volunteered more than 4500 hours in her many years of service. She also enjoyed the Dancing Grannies and Red Hats. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and volunteered her time at the museum. She was active in the LDS Church, where she loved singing in the choir, as well as directing it for many years. She also had the privilege of singing with different groups 3 times at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, work in her yard and watch the hummingbirds that came to feed. She also loved family time when they could all get together. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved spending time with their "granny". She is survived by her children, Cathy Christensen of Ogden, UT, Diane and John Leatham of Brookings, OR, Alan and Brenda Wyler of Soda Springs, ID, and 5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chick, infant daughter Ann, brothers Earl, Larry and Orson, and sisters Aletta, Ruth and Rhea. Services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Soda Springs 1st Ward Building. Family will visit with friends on Sunday evening 7-8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery at 3 p.m. Listen to service
