Obituary

Jim returned to the loving arms of his family in heaven and is now ridin' and ropin' with his father, Charles Edward "Ed" Bible and returning to a good home-cooked meal by his mother Lillian Estelle "Stella" Garvin Bible. Joining him at the table are his sister Lucretia Belle "LuBel" Bible Woods Mason and Charles Edward "Chuck" Bible Jr., his brother. The whole Family is now together.

Jim was born in Marlow, Oklahoma and lived there most of his young life. In the late 1930's, his father bought acreage in Southeastern Oklahoma where Jim spent the rest of his growing years. Jim dropped out of high school for two years to work the ranch and rodeo circuit until one day he saw a beautiful young girl on a school bus. According to the story told by both of them, he went back to school so he could get to know her better. When they graduated, she was Valedictorian and danced and sang the song "I want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart". Her name was Rosanna Lewis and they were married that fall. They lived on the ranch for a while then moved to California.

He enlisted in April 1942 for WWII. Following training, he left for North Africa, France and Germany. Upon his return, they went back to California where he ran a donut shop for a while, then became one of the first route drivers for an upstart company called Granny Goose. In 1955, he packed up his growing family and moved back to Oklahoma to take over the entire Texas region for another upstart company called CornNuts. The family then moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Jim and Rose had three children, James Lewis (Georgia) Bible of Clermont, FL; Kenneth Edward (Judy) Bible of Clayton, OK; and Charli Luanne (Scott) Bible Olney of Soda Springs, ID. Jim and Rose were later divorced.

Jim continued his sales adding lines along the way such as Tom's and Atkinsons. He also sold non-candy lines such as Westmore cosmetics and Conair Hair Care products.

He met Marguerite Marie Wright Clark (Peg) and married her and became a family with her son Clay.

He loved to hunt and fish with Clay. They then had another son, Stacy Kevin (Penny) Bible of Georgetown, TX. Jim and Peg were also divorced.

Jim continued with his traveling and his sales, but his first and true love was always riding and roping. He returned home to the ranch as often as possible to work with his father. And worked horses with his friends and neighbors at his home near Austin, Texas.

Besides his four children and step-son, Jim is survived by eight grand children and seven great grand children, and his beloved dog, Shadow.

A Memorial Service will be held in Oklahoma at a later date. His numerous friends will keep alive his memory of his exploits on horseback and all of us will remember his wry sense of humor. Keep the sun at your back and a gentle breeze in your face, Jim.
