Obituary

James Thomas Hume was born on February 21, 1928 to Marian and Rob Roy Hume.  He passed away on February 16, 2021 just 5 days shy of his 93 rd birthday.  He was the 3 rd child born to the Humes.  Preceding him in death were his wife LaDene Bennett Hume, his sister Virginia McMurray (John) and his brother Robert "Bob" (Nadine, who is still doing well).

He was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his spare time fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, rafting and just looking at wildlife, plant life and the night skies.  Any prayers he offered always began with the thankfulness he had for the outdoor beauty and then the meal or whatever.  He introduced his children and grandchildren to these adventures, and they became lifelong lovers of everything outside!

Jim worked for Mountain Bell in many places, but I think his favorite place was Ketchum, Idaho.  He lived there for about 20 years and loved every second of it because it was in his old stomping grounds as a child.  He eventually retired from the phone company there before moving to the Salmon River for the next 20 of his most adventurous life.  The Salmon River was full of wildlife and he could hardly wait to get up in the morning to see how much he could see of it!

Survivors include his children Stephen J Hume (Amy) of Crestone, Colorado, Erin Hume of Crestone, Susan Hume of Boise, Idaho, Richard Hume (Renee) of Fontenelle , Nebraska, tammy Hume of San Jose, California, Diane Krebs (Brent) of Grace, Idaho and Bruce Stoor of New Orleans, Louisiana.  He had 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  All the grandchildren agree that he was the best grandfather a kid could ask for; he was always front and center at every event they had and cheered them on loudest of all!

After his family though he loved his pets.  Dogs, cats and all were undoubtedly waiting for him impatiently on the other side and he had a crooked grin for them from ear to ear!

Jim was cremated and memorial services will be held this summer.
