Soda Springs, Idaho... James Albert Lane, a long time resident of Soda Springs, Idaho passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, following a long illness. James (Jim) was born on February 16, 1942, in Terre Haute, Indiana to James Albert Lane and Anna Marie Quick Lane. He was raised in Terre Haute, joined the United States Air Force right after high school. Then he studied for his electronic engineering degree from Bell and Howell.

He was the proud father of James Albert Lane III, Kimberly Lane and Kelly Lane. He married Dorren Ellen Potts in March of 1980, in Tijuana, Mexico. He moved to Soda Springs in 1991 and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1993. He and Dorren were married in the Logan Temple in 1999.

Jim never met a stranger, he was always smiling and would enthrall people with his effusiveness and funny stories. He was quick with a hug or a service and would cheerfully plow a church parking lot or a neighbors driveway with equal enthusiasm. He and Dorren spent many joyful weekends in service as temple workers for the Logan temple.

He is survived by his beloved wife Dorren, his two daughters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sisters Beatrice Jones and Sharon Shaw and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents, his son James and his sister Rosalyn Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 12p.m. at Sims funeral home with a viewing from 11-12. Burial follow in the Fairview cemetery.
