Obituary

James Arnold Lienemann (Jim), 77, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Jim was born on November 14, 1947 the son of Ernest Ludwig and Leila Mae (Uttecht) Lienemann in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He graduated from Lutheran High School in Denver Colorado in 1966.

Shortly after high school Jim enlisted into the United States Air Force with his sister Jeanette. They were the first brother/sister pair to be sworn in to the military the same time in 1966. Jim served in the military for over 20 years retiring honorably as a Master Sergeant. Jim was proud of his military service and was a member of the American Legion.

Jim married Monna Jean Layland on August 13, 1968 in Elko, Nevada. Jim was a faithful spouse and supportive provider for their 50 years of marriage. Jim was the proud father of 6 children, Sean, Jeff, MaeDawn, Dray, Becky and Callie.  He taught his children the importance of hard work and being there for each other.

Jim found peace in nature, fishing or going for a drive.  He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, shooting guns, woodworking, watching TV, joking around with everyone and drinking Mountain Dew.  Jim was an expert mechanic, passing along his skills to his children and grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his three sons and three daughters, Sean (Pam) Lienemann of Blackfoot, ID, Jeff (Annette) Lienemann of Carmichael, CA, Dray Lienemann of Marysville, CA, MaeDawn (Glen) Young of Blackfoot, ID, Becky Whitaker of Yuba City, CA, and Callie White of Boise, ID. He is survived by his four sisters, Jeanette (Jerry) Lillard, Joanie, and Julie Lienemann of Littleton, CO and Jo (James) Norris of Dana Point, CA. He is also survived by 18 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Monna Lienemann, mother, Leila  Lienemann, and father, Ernest Lienemann.

A small graveside service will be held on Friday May 30th at 1:00pm. at the Soda Springs Idaho Fairview Cemetery.  Family and close friends will then head to Octagon Park for a luncheon.
