Obituary

A few days after losing his beloved wife, Pattsy, to Alzheimer's, James Calvin Stone, Sr. passed away in Casa Grande, Arizona, on August 15, 2011. Jim was born on May 30, 1940, in Sugar City, Idaho to Dyal Emerson and Myrtle Attebery Geelan Stone. He attended schools in Sugar City, Rexburg, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Denver, Colorado. He earned an accounting degree from Ricks College.

Jim was proud of having served his country in the Marine Corps for 4 years in San Diego and Okinawa. He remained very patriotic and supportive of the armed forces all his life. He married Clara Ann Nelson in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1962. Together they had four children. They were later divorced.

In 1983, he married Pattsy Ashley in Elko, Nevada. They have lived in several places across the country, where he enjoyed working as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic. Casa Grande has been their home for 12 years. Besides his work, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and being with his family. He loved to have his family visit.

He is survived by his parents, Dyal and Marie Stone of Idaho Falls; children Maili (Jim) Murdoch of Grace; James (Krista) Stone of Glendale, AZ; John (Julie) Stone of Lehi, UT; Traci (David) Anderson of Plainfield, IL; Linda (Les) Lunderman of Valley Center, KA; James (Shanon) Ashley, and Julie (Ron) Owens, both of Soda Springs; 3 brothers, Mike (Rebecca) Jolley of Idaho Falls; Ted (Ann) Stone and Brad (Gretchen) Stone, both of Layton, UT; one sister, Susan Muchmore of Layton, UT; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pattsy; his mother; sons Albert and Russell; and 2 great granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at the Soda Springs Stake Center on September 10, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs with Military Graveside services.
