Jay L. Davis, 75; of Soda Springs passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at his home.
Jay was born July 27, 1935 in Auburn, Wyoming the son of Derris J. and Verna Leavitt Davis.
He lived in Conda, Idaho for 18 years. He graduated from Soda Springs High School and attended Riverside Jr. College for 2 years.
Jay married Darlene Stoor on December 9, 1955 in Soda Springs. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Conda for 3 years after their marriage and then lived in Soda Springs for 50 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had served in various callings including Home Teacher, Executive Secretary (Bp. Dan Moldenhauer), and positions in the Scouting program.
Jay worked at Monsanto and retired from there after 30 years as an electrical supervisor.
He served on the Idaho St. Electrical Board for 12 years and was a Board Member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
He enjoyed collecting knives, making knives, target shooting, fishing, hunting and riding ATV's.
Jay is survived by his wife Darlene of Soda Springs and two sons, Scott J. Davis of Soda Springs, ID; Robert "Bob" and Barbara Davis of Sandy, UT. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, mother, Verna Davis of Whitehall, MT; two brothers Darwin and Barbara Davis of Riverton, UT; Rex and Kathy Davis of Whitehall, MT; and step-grandma Berniece Leavitt of Soda Springs, ID. He was preceded in death by his father Derris J. Davis, grandparents, Dell and Bertha Leavitt, Nelson and Edna Davis.
Services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donation to the Soda Springs Public Library or the Huntsman Cancer Center (500 Huntsman Way, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108-1535).
