Jay Dell Jenkins passed away on May 26, 2018 in his home in Bancroft, Idaho.
He was born January 20 1929 in Bancroft to George Moroni Jenkins and Alta Lovinia Gooch. He was the oldest of four children. Max (LaRue) Jenkins, Vaudis Jenkins, Janice (Jim) Stephenson.
He graduated from North Gem High School, and one year at Utah State.
Jay married Doris Jean McNealy August 1947. They had five children. Dorian, Michael (Penny), Trish (George), Marlon, and Cathy. Later they were divorced.
Jay married Velma Thueson February 23, 1979. They were sealed on October 23, 1980.
At the time of his death Jay Dell had 34 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Max, and two sons, Dorian and Marlon.
Jay worked for Monsanto for 32 years and retired in January 1984 as a foreman. After retiring, he and Velma spent 33 winters in their second home in Yuma Arizona. They traveled to many places during his retirement including Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico.
He loved to fish, hunt, go on pack trips and anything with horses. He loved horses! He helped his dad with his team of pulling horses, and was so proud of all the competitions that they won in Idaho and Utah. He loved flying planes and going snowmobiling. In later years, he tamed down and started 4-wheeling and went exploring in his Baja Bug.
Funeral services will be held on Friday June 1st in the Bancroft LDS Church at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Bancroft Cemetery.
