Obituary

Jay Earl Thompson returned to our Heavenly Father's arms on March 17, 2009 in Grace, Idaho.

He was born to loving parents, Daniel Wells and Mary Elva Montgomery Thompson, on April 11, 1935 in Ogden, UT.

Jay was married to Ann Stoker on June 1, 1956. Ann passed away July 30, 1972.
He married Barbara Ann Bostick March 20, 1981.

Jay retired from Questar Gas in the early 1990's which gave him time to enjoy his family, farm and animals.

Jay loved the outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt. He loved his mule Sweetheart and rode her everywhere. Jay was a sheep herder since he was five years old. He would bring bum lambs home from Monte Cristo and nurse them and the lambs would follow him everywhere. Jay was the best shearer in the state. People would wait for weeks for Jay so he could shear their sheep. In fact, he sheared sheep at the Nature Center in Ogden for the school children. Jay had the biggest cowboy heart around. He helped all of his neighbors-anyone in need. He was a wonderful Christian example to all. He was loved by his community.

Jay was devoted to his sweet wife, children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Jay is survived by his wife Barbara, and children; Steven J. and Rosalee Thompson of Laketown, UT; Penny A. Thompson of Roy, UT; Cory W. and Kathy Thompson of Huntsville, UT; Steven and Amy Lynch of Springville, UT; Julie Lynch Schacht of Bountiful, UT; and April L. and Angel Lopez of Copperas Cove, TX. Jay is also survived by his mother Elva Thompson and his brothers Rex W. Thompson and Glen D. and Janet Thompson and a sister Lois A. and Steve Jeffs and 30 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by his father Daniel Thompson, son Terry F. Lynch, a grandson Luke, granddaughter Brandy, and a sister-in-law LuJean Thompson.
