Jean Rose Moreland Gaines was born on June 18, 1926 in Twin Falls, Idaho, the older of two daughters born to Doris and Ray Moreland. She died on November 20, 2009.
She married Harley T. Gaines in 1943, a handsome 2nd Lieutenant during the height of WWII. They had five children. She is survived by her younger sister, Dorothy Hovey and five children, Carol and Tom Saathoff, Rose and Dale Jeske, Joyce and Don Polster, Jeannie Haddow and Bob Gaines and eleven grandchildren, Sandra, Rick, Kaye, Dan, Don, Charise, Brandon, Cody, Rachel, Sarah and Andrew. She had seventeen great grandchildren. We all loved her very much!
Mom was raised in Southern Idaho and moved to Bountiful, Utah in the late 1950's. After her husband, Harley's death in 1979, she moved to Lowman, Idaho to be close to her beloved sister, "Dot" and the Idaho mountains that she had always loved. She lived there until 2005 when she moved to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to be near her daughter, Jeannie.
Mom was a survivor and always picked up the pieces from whatever life presented and moved forward with a "can do" attitude that is an inspiration for all of us who knew her. She made many friends wherever she went including the staff of the hospital and care center where she spent much of her time in the last few months. Mom had a knack for making people feel special and was full of life, always game for just about any kind of fun.
She loved dancing, gardening and rock collecting.
She was adamant that she did not want a funeral as funerals are sad and she wanted everyone to remember her with happiness in their hearts. She was looking forward to being with her Lord Jesus and all her loved ones who had preceded her to heaven.
Her family and friends have planned a "Tribute to Jean" party for this coming summer in Lowman, Idaho.
