Obituary

William Jean "Cube" Treasure, long time resident of Chesterfield, ID passed away at a local care facility in Pocatello, ID on December 26, 2011. Jean and his wife Mary Alene moved to Pocatello in June 2008.

He was born July 11, 1923, in Downey, Idaho a son of William and Romana (Green) Treasure. At the age of three the family moved to McCammon, Idaho where he was raised and worked on the family farm. He attended school in McCammon and graduated from McCammon High School in 1942. In high school he was active in sports participating in football and track.

In June 1944 Jean was drafted into the United States Army. He was in the infantry of the 28th Division attached to the First and Third Armies. He trained at Fort Hood, Texas and then went overseas serving in France, Belgium and Germany. He was honorably discharged on January 3, 1946.

Upon returning home in 1946, he courted Mary Alene Hogan and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 16, 1947. He farmed in McCammon for two years and in 1949 moved to Chesterfield where he worked for Mary Alene's uncle, Chris Call, on a cattle ranch and dry farm for 10 years.

In 1956 he purchased a farm and later built a house on this property with some help from his friends. He raised grain, alfalfa, meadow hay, cattle, sheep and horses. He received great happiness training and riding his quarter horses.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served many positions in the Chesterfield Ward. He served on the Chesterfield Foundation Board, the Caribou County Fair Board, and was a member of the Idaho Cattlemen's Association, Idaho Wool Grower's Association and American Quarter Horse Association.

He is survived by his sister Gwen Campanello, Cincinnati, Ohio, his brother David D Treasure Chubbuck, ID, his sister-in-law Henrietta Hogan of Bancroft, ID. his niece Kathy (Doug) Treasure Lenio, nephews William David (Angela) and Jon Treasure plus many nieces and nephews on his deceased wife's side of the family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alene Hogan Treasure, his parents and two sisters Virginia Smith and June Frugoli.

The family is very appreciative of the great care given to Jean by Quail Ridge Assisted Living during the past three and half years and to Creek Side Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at noon at the Chesterfield LDS church. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Chesterfield Cemetery with military honors provided.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Chesterfield Foundation.
