On August 31, 2012, Jeannie M. Sorensen, 73, endured to the end, surrounded by her family after a valiant battle with lung and brain cancer. She was at home under the wonderful care and supervision of Access Hospice.

Jeannie was born March 7, 1939 in Pocatello, Idaho to Carmie and Fae DiCianno Zaccardi.

She grew up and attended schools in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1957.

She married Jack Johnston on July 28, 1958 in Pocatello. In 1968 they moved to Soda Springs where she has since resided. She and Jack later divorced.

Jeannie married Stan Sorensen July 3, 1985 in Soda Springs.

She loved and enjoyed her husband and family very much, forming many happy memories with them, which she takes with her. She enjoyed being outdoors, planting flowers, mowing the lawn and especially loved her time spent at their cabin at the dike. She and Stan planted many beautiful gardens, sharing the harvest with family and friends and when they had water she especially liked fishing from the dock. There were also early morning walks with her friends Linda and Marian, watching for deer and moose. She enjoyed watching the many birds who came to feed and especially her lovely butterflies.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and belonged to the Mary's C.W.O. She was a member of the Golden Rod Chapter # 64, order of the Eastern Star for over 25 years. Also Caribou Memorial Hospital Auxiliary-Pink Ladies, which she loved dearly.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Stan Sorensen, her children and their spouses, Mike (Carla) Johnston of Idaho Falls, ID, Kellie (Mike) Undesser San Tan Valley, AZ, David (Amie) Johnston of Pocatello, ID, Leslie Johnston of Pocatello, ID. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren Marshall, Justin, D.J., Corbin, Tyler, Brandon, Brittney, Preston, Paige, Holden and Chloe and also 6 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jerry (Peggy) Zaccardi, Larry (Debby) Zaccardi both of Pocatello, ID, and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Irene Brinkmann and a special nephew Jeremy Zaccardi.

Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Noon at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Soda Springs (99 West Center St.). Rosary will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Church and family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.at the church following the Rosary and on Wednesday morning from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to funeral mass.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
