IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry Lynn
Beus
August 23, 1948 – February 9, 2022
Jerry Lynn Beus, long-time resident of Soda Springs, died unexpectedly at home on February 9, 2022. He was 73.
Jerry was born on August 23, 1948 in Soda Springs, the eldest son of Lynn G. and Marjorie May Beus. He was raised on the family ranch and attended schools in Soda Springs where he enjoyed playing sports. Jerry was baptized into the LDS Church at age 11, but anyone who knew him understood that his greatest spiritual connection was with animals and the natural world. Jerry found his higher power in watching the sunrise, tending to his lambs, or just spending time outside where he could observe nature at its fullest. For Jerry, animals were more than pets or livestock. They were life companions, full of love and personality.
In 1968, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After the war, he returned to his roots to pursue a life doing what he loved most, farming and ranching. He also became a skilled heavy-equipment operator, an occupation he excelled at.
In 1973, Jerry married Kathy Reagle with whom he had two children. They later divorced. In 2013, he married Antonia ("Toni") Willis. They later divorced but remained close companions until Jerry's death.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Known for his sense of humor and practical jokes, Jerry was fond of entertaining those around him and took great pleasure in making people laugh and smile.
He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Soda Springs, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Jerry enjoyed the company and close friendship of his Brother-in-law Fred Willis at home on the ranch in the latter stages of his life.
He is survived by his two children, Jade Beus of Jackson Hole, WY, and Angel Beus of Reno, NV; two Step-children Andon Ficker of Meeteetse, WY and Joaquin & Michelle Ficker of Idaho Falls, ID, seven grandchildren; two brothers, Doug Beus of Grand Junction, CO and Dallas Beus of Mountain Home, ID; and two step-sisters, LaNae Call and Karen Schrand. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Lynn, mother, Marjorie (nee Ayers) Seely; step-mother, Beth Beus, and sister, Marcia Manda.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home (139 East 2 nd South) in Soda Springs. Family will visit with friends Saturday morning from Noon to time of service. Burial will be in the Soda Springs Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors.
