Jerry Jay Nichols, 63 of Soda Springs, passed away on March 28th in Soda Springs Idaho from a year long battle with Glioblasoma. He was born to Ron and Connie Nichols in Ft. Hood Texas on April 15, 1953. He was a resident of the state of Texas for two days before spending the rest of his life in Soda Springs, Id.
In August of 1972, he married his lifetime sweetheart Leanne Stephens Nichols. They created a very fun life together enduring "true adventures" each and every day. To this marriage, three children were born. December of 1974, their son Travis Jay, and in December of 1977, their daughter Krista Michelle.
At the age of 13, Jerry began his career at the family business "Lallatin Food Town". He went from being a box boy, to being the Meat Cutter, to being a Manager, to being our favorite "Greeter". Jerry loved his customers, he made many friends that were true and dear to him through the doors of the Foodtown and he was never afraid to welcome a new face and treat them like longtime friends. If you needed a recipe or a good story told, he was always there to deliver.
He loved spending time with his family. He was blessed with two grandchildren who he adored and spent endless hours with. He also was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and friends whose children he treated as though they were his own grandchildren. Jerry was an avid reader who thoroughly enjoyed all types of books and remembered everything he read. Jerry loved the outdoors from the snow to the beautiful Idaho summers. It was a guarantee that he could be found at the "Dike" enjoying some fishing, or some family and friend gathering. Jerry was an avid archer, fisherman, snowmobiler, skier, and ATV rider, the "Pathfinder" was true to his word and would never lead you astray!
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Leanne, two children, Travis (T.J.) Nichols of Pocatello, Idaho and Krista (Brock) Sturm, two grandchildren, Jayden Brock and Alexandra Michelle, his parents Ron and Connie, his brothers Lonnie and Dennis (Jeanette) all of Soda Springs. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and very close friends he would call family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his first-born daughter, both sets of his grandparents, and a great-nephew.
