Obituary

Joan Packer Hamp, 88, passed away at her home on December 19, 2020 in Rupert, Idaho from natural causes.

She was born in early 1933 to Milton and Letha (nee Tate) Packer at the family home in Riverdale, Idaho.  Her childhood was spent on the family farm.  After the Second World War her family moved to Idaho Falls.  She met her future husband, Jim Hamp of Grace, Idaho, in 1949.  They were married in a civil ceremony in early 1950 and later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  They made their home together on the farm in Grace and raised two sons, James Milton and Lonn.  After Jim's passing in 1995, she remained on the farm until 2007, when she sold their farm and moved to Rupert to be near her sister Lenore Butterworth.

Joan will be remembered as the rock of the family, always generous and loving.  She especially loved her grandchildren, always putting them first in her life.  She is survived by her sons, Milton and Lonn; her grandchildren, Sonja Dursteler, Bob Welker, Clarissa Ramade, Garth Hamp and Tonja Hodgkinson; 14 great grandchildren; her sister Lenore Butterworth; and many nieces and nephews. She was loved and cherished by many.

Graveside services will be held at the Grace, Idaho Cemetery on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11 a.m.  Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a funeral service will not be held.
