Bancroft, Idaho….. Joseph Peter Eliason, born October 11, 1942, passed in the arms of his family on June 20, 2026 after a long illness.
Pete was born in Soda Springs, Idaho to Ruby Bowman Eliason and Joseph Godfrey Eliason, youngest of six children. He graduated from North Gem High school in 1961, and after, served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Northern California from 1962 to 1964. Pete went to Utah State University in Logan, Utah for one year, then attended Idaho State Trade and Technical School to study vocational agriculture. Pete served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1965 to 1971.
He married his sweetheart, Susanne Hogan Eliason in 1969, in the Logan Utah Temple. They made their home in Bancroft, Idaho where Pete farmed. He was well known for having the best kept fields in the county.
Pete is survived by his eternal companion, Susanne, and three children; Alane Eliason Ferney (Gregory), Kendell Joseph Eliason, and Melissa Eliason Cox (McLain) as well as his seven grandchildren and their spouses, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Pete was a faithful servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ, serving as a missionary, temple worker, Bishop, and Stake Clerk for 16 years.
His funeral service will be Saturday, June 27 at 11am in Bancroft at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A viewing will be held Friday, June 26 from 6:00-8:00pm, as well as before the funeral from 9:30-10:30, Saturday morning.
