JR Wesley Maughan, 67, of San Andreas, CA and Soda Springs, ID passed away on September 26th, 2013. JR was born on December 24th, 1945 to Wesley R. and Anna L. Maughan in Soda Springs. He spent the last 35 years of his life with his friend and companion, Sandi Johnston. JR graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1964. He furthered his education with an Associates and Bachelor degree in Psychology from Idaho State University in Pocatello. JR celebrated 36 years of sobriety. His life's work was helping others to achieve the same goal. That took form through his business Changing Echoes in Angels Camp, CA. He touched thousands of lives with his compassion and love. JR enjoyed and embraced life. He fostered friendships in every town he lived, but none more than in Soda Springs, which he always considered his home. JR cherished his friendships. They provided much laughter and many good times. He loved the natural bounty that Idaho offered from golfing, fishing, boating and four-wheeling. JR and Sandi traveled the world together. They climbed mountains, jumped from airplanes and swam the oceans. JR is survived by his life partner Sandi and his three children: Lynne and her husband Jimmy Van Dinter of Draper, UT, Stephanie and her husband John Orgren of Parkland, FL and Dan and his wife Cheryl Johnston of Camarillo, CA. He is also survived by his two sisters, Kay Maughan of Fernley, NV and Jolien and her husband John Barresi of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Grandpa JR loved his 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Maurice, Dakotah, Cheyene, Christina, Anthony, Andrew and Emma. JR is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Anna and his two uncles, Fred Larsen and Dubious Larsen. A Celebration of Life is being held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Sims Funeral Home at 7 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 5:30-6:45 p.m. prior to Celebration.
