Judith Taylor Gepford was born September 30, 1940 in Dover, New Hampshire, to Fredrick and Ruth Taylor. She passed away June 29, 2008 surrounded by family after a long 20 year battle with breast cancer.
She often talked about the summers at her grandmother's York Beach cottage in Maine, and the good times spent with her family in New England. Judith married Jay Gepford on July 26, 1963 in New Hampshire and after her husband converted to the LDS church had their marriage solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. Judith and Jay had various experiences together ranging from restaurant owners to dairy farmers; however, her greatest joy was always as a homemaker and mother. In 1987, Judith and Jay purchased a home near Grace (Central) and have resided there until the time of her passing.
She always loved animals and most recently had a soft spot for her little black Shi-Tzu, "Sambo" who replaced the kids when the nest was empty.
Judith was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was involved with genealogy and could be found at the Bancroft genealogy library every Tuesday afternoon doing family research with her "friends from Bancroft". She was an active member of the Grace Third Ward at the time of her death, and served in various callings throughout her life.
Judith and her family are grateful for all the love and support her friends and neighbors have shown for the past 20 years as she battled cancer. She credited living the Word of Wisdom and the power of prayer as the biggest reasons she held off the disease for so many years. Her life's ambition was to raise her family in the gospel of Jesus Christ and to see all of her children get a good education. She accomplished these goals and lived to see every one of her children married for eternity in the LDS Temple and earn a four year college education.
Judith is survived by her parents Frederick and Ruth Taylor of Rochester, NH, her husband Jay Gepford of Grace, her children Aaron Gepford of Bancroft, ID, Melanie Scott of Deary, ID, Jacob Gepford of Lehi, UT, Sariah Mackowiak of Mountain Home, ID, Ruth Clark of Pocatello, ID; 14 grandchildren, her sisters, Gloria Feenstra and Sheila Prescott of Somersworth, NH, a brother, Jonathan Taylor of New Durham, NH, and a loving pet Sambo.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3, 2008, at noon in the Grace LDS Stake Center, 404 S. Main St, Grace, Idaho with Bishop Eric Simonson conducting. Interment followed at the Turner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints Perpetual Education Fund.
