Albert Keith Nielsen, 91, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, ID of natural causes.
Keith was born October 20, 1925 to Albert and Vera Nielsen in Rupert, ID.
He graduated from Thatcher High School where he was student body president and was also active in sports. He was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1944 where he was stationed in Japan following the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings of 1945 respectively during the final stage of WWII.
Keith is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully in various auxiliary positions which included as Bishop of the 8th Ward of Soda Springs. He also served with his wife Betty as temple workers in the Logan Temple for 7 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting. He loved the time and precious moments he enjoyed with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty, his daughter Peggy (James) Palmer of Centerville, UT, and his three sons, Steven Keith (Lynnette) Nielsen of Pocatello, ID, Bruce Charles (Josie) Nielsen of Kaysville, UT, Bryan P. (Heather) Nielsen of Idaho Falls, ID. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one brother Bill Nielsen and two sisters, Norma Bennett and LaVerne Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by one son, DeWayne who died at birth, his parents, and sisters, Thelma, Faye, Wilda, Phyllis and a brother Earl.
Services will be held on Monday, May 8, at Noon at the Soda Springs Stake Center. Family will visit with friends Sunday evening 6-7 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and Monday morning 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery with Military Honors.
