Kimberlee "Kim" Hillyard Painter, 40; passed away at her home on April 15, 2011 surrounded by her family after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Kimberlee grew up in Smithfield, Utah, attended Summit Elementary and North Cache Jr. High School, then graduated from Sky View High in 1989.
She loved animals, especially her horses Gusy and Speckled Sue. She was involved in horse 4-H and rodeo queening. She was rodeo queen for the 4th of July celebration in Lewiston in 1988. She worked hard at training her ex-race horse Speckled Sue.
Kimberlee worked at Rocky's Pizza while going to high school then worked at Presto Products. That is where she met her eternal companion Brad. They were married July 12, 1990 and later sealed together for eternity on May 3, 1997. After 2 1/2 years in Logan, they bought a home in Grace, Idaho. Kimberlee enjoyed decorating and taking care of her home.
Kimberlee worked part time for the City of Grace as both the Deputy Clerk and Clerk for the Zoning Commission as well as worked for Utah Power.
She has two children. Her son Hayden who was born in 1997 and daughter Kylee in 2001. While she was pregnant with Kylee she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought this disease for almost 10 years.
Kimberlee was an excellent cook. She loved to make new recipes and share them with others. She was a good homemaker, wife and dedicated mother. Even when she was sick in bed she saw to it that the kids did their homework and were well taken care of. She loved to scrapbook and make greeting cards. The gospel, her husband, children, family and many, many friends were most important to her.
Kimberlee was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Primary and Young Women programs as well as a dedicated visiting teacher. Her testimony of the gospel and her great faith were an example to all. The room was always a little brighter when Kim was around. You just couldn't help feeling uplifted when it was you trying to do that for her.
Kim is survived by her loving husband Brad; son Hayden; daughter Kylee; parents John and Janet Hillyard of Smithfield; twin brother Kirk (Kimi) Hillyard of Hyde Park, UT; brother Shane (fiancé Amanda) of Smithfield, UT; brother Casey (Tori) Hillyard of Smithfield, UT; brother Corey (Annette) Hillyard, of Etna, WY; brother Devin (Candace) Hillyard of Smithfield, UT; and mother-in-law Merlyn Painter of Grace. She was preceded in death by Brad's father, Lloyd Painter; grandparents Ross and Alice Willmore and Glen and Jackie Hillyard; an uncle Brian Anderson.
Kimberlee loved all the people she met at the cancer treatment center. She missed very much seeing her friends there after her treatment ended. Thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who took care of Kim over the years. A special thank you to Brett Smith and nurse Tami Gentry from hospice.
There are not enough thank you's in this world to express our gratitude to the hundreds of people who have sent cards, made phone calls, prepared meals, given rides to appointments and treatments, made donations, and given countless hours of kindness and compassion to her and her family. She was ever so grateful as was her husband and family. Thank you.
