Obituary

Kristina Lyn Bullock-Boyd (67) Green River, WY passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 24th, 2023.

Kristina was born on May 7th, 1956, in Pocatello, Idaho to Willard Junior Bullock and Sharon Lyn Cutler-Bullock. She was the oldest of 5 children.

Kristina grew up in Tyhee, Idaho and attended Tyhee Elementary School, Hawthorne Junior High School, and Highland High School. She loved growing up in the country and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandmothers. She had an incredibly special bond with her grandma Cutler. Kristina was proud of her heritage and was very sentimental.

Kristina married Clint Burton Preston in September of 1974. Kristina and Clint moved out to the Preston farm on the reservation and together they had 3 amazing and hardy boys. Bradley Clint Preston, Chad Bullock Preston, and Ryan Willard Preston. Kristina enjoyed working on the farm, driving potato truck, driving a paper route, and raising her boys. She was not afraid to get dirty and loved being outside. Clint and Kristina later divorced but they never stopped being friends and always put their boys first.

She married Steven Thompson in 1983 and later divorced. Steven had two children from an earlier marriage, Machell Thompson Searls and Michael Thompson who spent many summers with Kristina, Steve, and the boys. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and loving the outdoors.

In 1992, Kristina married Blaine Barnett. Together they had 2 wonderful boys (her babies!) Tyler Dee Barnett and Mitchell Blaine Barnett. Her babies meant the world to her. Kristina and Blaine later divorced.

During that time, Kristina started attending cosmetology school. Along with being a mother, this became her new passion. She graduated from the School of Hairstyling in Pocatello, Idaho.

Kristina began dating Johnny Mullins and she moved with him to Gooding, Idaho. Gooding was a fresh start for Kristina. After she graduated, Kristina worked at the Best little hair house in Pocatello and then after moving to Gooding, she opened her own salon, Special Effects. This gave Kristina a newfound sense of purpose. She needed this. Her very first love was her boys, but she needed this for her own personal growth. She loved serving people, and she loved the people of Gooding both from work and from church. Kristina and Johnny later split up but was thankful for the love that he showed her boys.

Kristina loved being a hairdresser. This was her calling. She loved her clients and found that each one had a special story. She loved not only doing their hair but listening to their stories and helping them through whatever she could and helping them through trials with scripture. She gained so many wonderful friendships while doing their hair.

While living in Gooding, Kristina met Gregory Scott Boyd, a good ol boy from Gooding who worked in the oil fields of Wyoming. Scott had attended High School in American Falls and Kristina loved to tell people that they grew up on opposite ends of the reservation. Once they met, Scott traveled from Wyoming to Gooding to visit Kristina and eventually, he won her heart, and they were married in 2002. The first time she had ever told Scott that she loved him was at his grandparents' cabin.

In 2004, Kristina sold her salon, and her and Scott moved with her boys to Gillette, WY where Scott went to work in the coal mines. Kristina loved to Ski. They enjoyed Soldier Mt and White Pine in WY and after they were married, they skied together as a family, even taking the boys to South Dakota until Kris could no longer ski after her back surgery. Kristina also loved her trips to Alaska. She had been twice, once with her mother and siblings and once with Tyler. She loved all things Alaska even watching every Alaska show. The family enjoyed going camping, fishing, riding 4 wheelers and especially their annual trip to Las Vegas. Kristina grew tired of Vegas but loved Laughlin and Bullhead City area with its warm weather and low elevation and they were planning (contemplating) moving.

Kristina worked at a few different salons and managed the Walmart Hair Salon. Standing on her feet all day took a toll on Kristina, and after having back surgery and other health problems, Kristina chose to retire in 2014. Kristina enjoyed her time in Gillette and gained many beautiful friendships both through work and church. Scott and Kristina raised Tyler and Mitchell in Gillette and loved spending time together as a family and coming back to Idaho to visit family here. Once Kristina's baby boys were raised and developing careers of their own, Scott and Kris decided to move to Green River, WY to be closer to family in Idaho and where Scott lives.

Kristina and Scott also loved attending church together and one of her church friends remembered her beautiful singing voice. They shared a love for the Lord and enjoyed spending time in scripture study.

Kristinas biggest joy and accomplishments were her 5 boys. They were her life, and her boys could do no wrong in her eyes. She was so immensely proud of each one of them and loved talking about each of their accomplishments and their beautiful families. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed coming home to see her parents and siblings.

Kristina is survived by her loving husband Gregory Scott Boyd, Her sons Bradley (Kandie) Preston (Broomfield, CO), Chad (Megan) Preston (Manchester, MD), Ryan Preston (Riverton, WY), Tyler Barnett (Montgomery, TX), and Mitchell Barnett (Gillette, WY).
