Obituary

Larry Dean Burton passed away August 3, 2022 at Edgewood Assisted Living Center in Soda Springs, Idaho.  He died fighting  a battle with diabetes and the effects of Covid.

Larry was born September 26, 1946, the third son of James Lloyd Burton and Ida Natalia Burton from Grace, Idaho.

His growing up years were spent on the family farm helping with putting up hay, harvesting potatoes, and milking cows. He was a hard worker.  One of his favorite pastimes,  as a boy, was playing with his dog and skinny dipping with his brothers and friends at "23" in the Bear River west of Grace. He loved investigating insects and bugs of all kinds.

Larry was on the State Champion Wrestling Team from Grace High School (Red Devils) in the 1962/1963 season coached by Lew Lamb.  He was an expert takedown artist. Very fast on his feet. He held the high school record for trips to the Principal's office (27).  After graduating from high school he joined the Navy and spent time on the Seas being stationed in Norfolk ,Virginia.

Larry worked  at the phosphate mines in Soda Springs and the gold mines near Elko, Nevada. He was an operator of all kinds of heavy equipment. He had worked in construction and could fix just about anything.  He was good with his hands and also liked to play games and cards.

Larry enjoyed fishing with his wife and grandchildren at Blackfoot Reservoir. He also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke on TV with his dog Bear by his side. .If it was a western he would watch it.

Larry met and fell in love with Deleana Allred and they were married September 25, 1976 in Grace, Idaho. They spent 46 years together in Soda Springs, Georgetown, Elko, Nevada and Chubbuck, Idaho. After retiring he spent time in the yard, making wood projects and helping Deleana tend grandkids. He especially loved fishing and camping with family.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents James Lloyd Burton and Ida Natalia Burton, a  brother Steven Burton and his wife Deleana. He is survived by his daughters Juanita (Jeff), Wendy (Ryan) and Boddi.  Also from previous marriages Buffy, Millie, and Brandy.  Larry and Deleana have 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1  great-great-grandchild.  Larry has two surviving siblings, Clarence (Janis) Burton, North Logan, Utah and Jerolyn (Don)  Smith, Manti, Utah.

A graveside service will be held August 13th at 12pm Fairview Cemetery with a family luncheon after 290 S. 3rd West Stake Center by the hospital.
