Abbie LaRue Shuler, 81; of Soda Springs passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.
LaRue was born on January 28, 1929 in Grace, Idaho the daughter of Gettys Bartell and Abbie Louise Miles Sorensen.
She was raise in Grace, ID, and graduated from Grace High School.
LaRue married Don H. Shuler November 17, 1948 in Las Vegas, NV. Don passed away on May 25, 2010.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a member of the 2nd Ward for over 60 years. She taught numerous primary classes, mutual classes and served as a visiting teacher.
She assisted with the Miss Caribou Pageants and Teas in the 70's. She also was a leader in the Cub Scouts and 4-H. She worked part-time at the Alice-Joy Shop and at Chadwick's until they closed. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served for many hears on the Girls State Committee.
LaRue enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling and spending time with her extended family.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters; D. Craig and Raylene Shuler of Soda Springs, ID; Scott G. and Pam Shuler of Soda Springs, ID; Jyl L. Shuler of Cedar City, UT; Joddee L. and Mark Jacobsen of Casper, WY. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and one brother Gary B. Sorensen of Bakersfield, CA; and a sister Kay Hatch of Idaho Falls, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Shuler.
Services were held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center.
