Obituary

Leon Freeman Rasmussen let go of the hands of his sisters and passed into the arms of his Savior on Monday, February 29, 2016 with very little discomfort, in a spirit of rejoicing and certainly without regrets as he had been promised. Leon was born December 16, 1953, to Freeman and Wilda Nielsen Rasmussen in Soda Springs, Idaho. He was the youngest child of six. Leon attended school in Preston and Grace where he graduated from the Special Needs Program offered by the State of Idaho when he was 21. He valued his completed schooling as much as any college degree. He loved working with the cattle and helping Dad on the farm. He learned to work hard, a trait carried with him throughout his life. After the death of his parents, Leon lived with his four sisters whom he dearly loved. He would stay with each of them for four to six weeks at a time before moving on to the next home. Each sister offered him a different scenario of things to do and people to meet. Besides his sisters, he especially loved his nieces and nephews, his great-nieces and nephews, and his extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles. It was important for him to attend family reunions and any occasion that brought the family together. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jay Albert, one niece, Staci Lyn Hann, and brother-in-law George Olsen. He is survived by his four sisters, Jolene Olsen of Aurora, Colorado; Katheryn Hann of Woods Cross, Utah; Sue Hokum (Foalima) of Grace, Idaho; and Faye Thompson (Jim) of Teton, Idaho; 16 nieces and nephews, a large extended family and more friends than any of us can count. Services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Noon at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel in Niter. Family will visit with friends on Friday 6-8 p.m. at the Church and also Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Thatcher Cemetery. He loved and was loved by all who met him. He will be missed beyond words but gives us all hope and unparalleled faith in a kind and loving Heavenly Father. Listen to service
