Obituary

Leonard O. Kingsford, 90, of Riverton, Utah, formerly of Soda Springs, Idaho, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the home of his son in Utah.

Leonard was born May 22, 1918 at Niter, Idaho the son of Robert and Martha Mildred Ormond Kingsford.

He married Helen Bernice Erickson June 3, 1942 in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple. Helen passed away April 29, 2008.

Leonard was raised and educated in Niter, Idaho. He had also lived in Moscow, ID, Fort Ord CA. Las Vegas, NV, Douglas, AZ, England where he was stationed in the U S Army at Rougham, just out of Bery St. Edmunds. He returned to the States and returned to Moscow where he attended law school. He had also lived in Rexburg, ID Boise, Pocatello and Soda Springs. He attended Duke University Financial School. He received two degrees, BS in Business and JD.

He along with his wife owned and operated the Caribou Title Company in Soda Springs.

He was a Major in the U S Army during WWII serving in the Infantry first, then the Finance Department.

He was a member of the Soda Springs LDS 2nd Ward. He had served in the Sunday school, MIA, served as first counselor to two Bishops, twice High Priest group leader, on the Stake High Council and had served three stake missions.

He had held every office in the local Lions Club with the exception of Secretary. He had been president of the Soda Springs Chamber of Commerce, precinct committeeman and County Chairman of the Republican Party, and State Committeeman to the Idaho Central Committee; He was also president for one year of the Idaho Title Association.
Leonard was associated with the Republican Party, Lions Club, LDS Church and several organizations "at least claimed he was a member because he had contributed to their cause".
He enjoyed reading; visiting with family and friends, letter writing and attending church. He had a keen sense of humor, all enjoyed.

He is survived by a son Edward and Betty Kingsford, Riverton, Utah, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and Eric's friend, Sylvia Hartog. He was also preceded in death by a son Eric, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, January 5th at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center located at 290 S. 3rd W. with Bishop Wade Clark officiating. Burial was in the Grace Cemetery with Military Graveside Services.
