Leonarda Marie
Kunz
Jun 20, 1945 — May 3, 2026
Leonarda (Lori) Marie Wiebelhaus Kunz started her journey peacefully through the gates of heaven on May 3, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Lori was born on June 20th, 1945, in Fordyce, Nebraska to Laurence Edward and Elvera G. Tramp Wiebelhaus. She was the eldest of eight children. Lori traveled to Soda Springs, Idaho alongside her family in 1959, where later, she met her husband, Jay Kunz. Lori and Jay got married November 27, 1982, in Elko Nevada.
Lori and Jay had many hobbies and interests during their time together. This includes anything outdoors from fishing, hunting, camping, riding snowmobiles, riding razors, traveling, and mud racing. They loved being snowbirds and would travel to Quartzsite, Arizona and Mesquite, Nevada when the winters got cold. Lori had a few interests of her own. She loved crocheting afghans for everyone, and she had a passion for working in her flower beds. Lori was a social butterfly. She loved selling Avon for many years due to the interactions and the friendships she created. She also worked at Maverick and Quick stop for a short time. Overall, Lori loved being with her family and she was a great friend to all.
Jay and Lori were just shy of celebrating 44 years together with the legacy of five children, 19 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Lori was preceded in death by her parents, (6) siblings, son Lonnie Van Vleet, and her great-granddaughter, Elora Potter. Lori is survived by her husband Jay Kunz; sister Sharon (Dennis) Monk; son Del (Kim) Van Vleet and his (3) children; stepdaughter Sue (Dale) Mason and her (2) children; stepson Lee (Erica) Kunz and his (8) children; daughter Shannon (Craig) Osterman and her (4) children.
Private services will be held with family. In lieu of flowers, condolences can be shared online. The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers. Lori, our beautiful wife, sister, mom, grandma, great grandma, and aunt will forever be in our hearts.
