Lila Joy Nelson passed away December 7, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on December 12, 1931 in Franklin, Idaho to Carl Elmo and Lenna Peterson and was the 8th of 10 children. She grew up in Preston, Idaho where she attended school. She married Grant J. Nelson in Preston on December 28, 1955 and moved to Soda Springs a year later where she lived the rest of her life. She worked many years in various retail stores, state and county jobs while raising 3 boys and helping on the family farm. She was an avid hunter with many big game trophies to her credit and was a strong supporter of Duck Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. She was a active member in the Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile where she held many chairs. She loved to spend weekends at the family cabin on the Blackfoot Reservoir riding 4-wheelers, snow machining or camping with family and friends. She was an avid card player with the local clubs playing Bridge and Pinochle. She enjoyed traveling and had traveled to such places as Europe, Hawaii, New Zealand and last year took a train tour of British Columbia. She was a talented artist and loved to crochet and had completed many many projects. Lila is survived by her 3 sons, Lynn (Shirley) of Great Falls, Montana, Randy (Lori) of Grace, Idaho, Larry (Donna) of Broomfield, Colorado, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Wanda and Carol. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Noon at the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to services.
