Obituary

With hearts so abundantly filled with love and joy for the blessing she was in our lives, we remember and honor the life of Lois Venice Burton. She lived with so much joy, kindness, forgiveness, grace, and love. She truly left an impression for the better wherever she went and with whomever she met.

Lois passed away peacefully from this earthly life on Tuesday Dec. 10, 2024 in the comfort of her very favorite place, her home, surrounded by family.

Lois was born on April 26, 1937 in Soda Springs, Idaho to her parents James and Venice Benson. Lois was born a twin with her brother Louis, and it is said that she was so tiny when she was born, her crib was the size of a shoe box. Though she stayed small in stature the rest of her life, we are convinced there was no one with a bigger heart.

Lois lived in Grace, Idaho with her brother and parents up until she graduated high school. In high school she participated in marching band, choir, and cheerleading. She met the love of her life when she was in the sixth grade. They started dating when she was a sophomore in high school during which time they talked about getting married once she had graduated. Sure enough, Dean Burton proposed to Lois on graduation night and they were married June 17, 1955 in Grace, ID. Lois loved Dean with all her heart and they were married for over fifty years. They lived in Cleveland, Idaho where they started a family farm and raised their three children: LaDean Andreasen (Burton), Blaine Burton, and Jim Burton. Her favorite activities with her family were fishing, camping, swimming, and holiday traditions. "Anything that got us all together, good food, lots of noise, and more importantly, a lot of fun.

Lois also enjoyed bowling, sewing, crocheting, knitting, dancing, gardening, and playing the piano. One of her most cherished callings in life was being a beautician at the nursing home where she was able to serve the elderly. Her greatest advice was to always remember the phrases: thank you, I'm sorry, and I love you. When asked what her most treasured possession was she devoutly answered, "my husband and my family, these are the only things I get to take with me."

Lois had a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has always had a strong faith in the power of prayer and has prayed for her family members daily since she was a young girl. She never questioned Gods love for her. Her relationship with her Heavenly Father was one she truly cherished.

We will miss her deeply, but we are grateful to be able to celebrate a beautiful spirit that lived a beautiful life, leaving behind an even more beautiful legacy. Lois is survived by her three children LaDean (Blaine) Andreasen, Blaine (Robyn) Burton, Jim (Marie) Burton, 10 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband: Rulon Dean Burton, her twin brother: Louis Benson, her sister: Bonna Lou Benson and her parents: James and Venice Benson.
