Loran William Kennedy, 86; of Soda Springs passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home in Soda Springs.

Loran was born July 8, 1924 in Yellow Jacket, Colorado the son of John Wesley and Emma Delila Gilliland Kennedy.

He was raised and educated in Yellow Jacket and later joined the U.S. Army. He served in WWII and in the Korean War.

He married Lawana Mae Matthews Talik July 2, 1954 in Aztec, New Mexico. Lawana passed away July 21, 1982.

Loran married Lucille Joyce Longenbohn December 17, 1982 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

He also lived in Mancos, Colorado, Shiprock, New Mexico and in Soda Springs, Idaho for the last 48 years.

Loran is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a Home Teacher and also served as a Temple Officiator with his wife in the Logan Temple.

He liked working with wood and hunting for gold. He also enjoyed going 4wheeling in the desert on his 4wheeler and buggy.

Loran is survived by his wife Lucille, 3 sons, Stanley Andrew & Deborah Talik; John William & Kristine Kennedy; Michael Stuart & Emily Kennedy; 2 Step-sons, Louis Kay & Suzie Bitton; Kevin LeRoy & Julie Bitton; a daughter Sandra Lee & JR Maughan. Also surviving are 21 1/2 Grandchildren and 41 1/2 Great-Grandchildren, a brother Edward & Lavern Kennedy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, a twin sister Lorena O'Brien, Edna Hansberry and two brothers Claud Kennedy and Henry Ewing.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Noon at the Soda Springs 1st Ward Chapel (361 South 3rd East). The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
