IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorraine Sherrie
Fitch
June 21, 1931 – December 18, 2018
Lorraine Sherrie Henry Fitch was born in Huntington Beach, California on June 21, 1931, which happened to be on Father's Day that year. She was the third child of four children born to Don and Laura Henry. Lorraine's family lived in Southern California all of her growing up years. Shortly after High School, Lorraine met Denny Fitch at a Stake dance. After a long distance courtship of several months they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1930.
Denny and Lorraine lived in California for the first 7 years of their marriage and then moved to Seattle and lived there for the next 12 years. Lorraine worked as a talented and efficient bookkeeper for most of that time. In 1970 Denny and Lorraine moved their family to American Fork, Utah. After their children were grown and gone from home, Denny and Lorraine built a home in Orem, Utah. Lorraine started working as head of bookkeeping for a small company called "Novell" when there were only 12 employees.
In 1990 Denny and Lorraine were called on a mission to Tucson, Arizona where they served for 18 months. Upon completion of their mission they sold their home in Orem and moved to Pasco, Washington and built a home on the property next to their daughter Laura. They had both retired and delighted in working in their garden and helping in the cherry orchard owned by their daughter and her husband. When their daughter moved to Idaho in 2004, Denny and Lorraine moved to Vancouver, Washington to be close to their daughter Avonne. Denny suffered with Parkinson's during their time in Vancouver and passed away in 2007.
Lorraine continued to live in Vancouver until 2009 and then moved to Soda Springs to again be near her daughter Laura. She has lived in the Caribou Memorial Hospital Living Center for the past nine years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, doing word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She loved the staff at CMH Living Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denny Milton Fitch; a daughter, Pamela Susan Fitch; her parents, Don F. and Laura Henry; and a brother, Don Henry.
She is survived by her children: Laura (& Bruce) Schenk of Grace; Idaho, John (& Donna) Fitch of Jonesborough, Tennessee; Avonne (& Rick) Hansen of Vancouver, Washington; Don (& Joylynn) Fitch of American Fork, Utah. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shanna Howard of Laguna Beach, California; and a brother, Bob Henry of Big Bear Lake, California.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21 at 11 a.m. at the Sims Funeral Home. Family will meet with friends on Friday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
