Louis James Benson, 74; of Grace passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs.

Louis was born April 26, 1937 in Soda Springs, Idaho the son of James Alma and Venice Naomi Ashbaker Benson.

He lived most of his life in Grace, Idaho and a short time in Chubbuck, Idaho.

Louis served in the Navy and was on the USS Shangri-La.

He married Marilyn Plagoski. They were later divorced.

He married Dona Jean Munns. She passed away March 9, 2003.

Louis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was a volunteer for the Grace Fire Department and a Caribou County EMT.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow machining, golf and bowling in his younger years.

Louis is survived by his six children and their spouses; Kena Ann and Val Dean Moore of Soda Springs, ID; Louis James II and Kim Benson of Tucson, AZ; Robert and Debbie Benson of Salt Lake City, UT; Brenda and Britt Rasmussen of Afton, WY; Bonnie and Van Coates of Bagdad, AZ; and Dale Benson of California. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and a twin sister Lois Burton of Cleveland, ID. He was preceded in death by his wife Dona Jean Benson and a son William Stanley Benson and his parents and one granddaughter.

Services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
