Obituary

Loyal Junior White, 90, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Soda Springs, ID. JR, as he liked to be known, was born April 6, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Loyal Walters and Minnie Clara Morgan White. He had one sister, Leila Margaret Strigle, who preceded him in death along with his parents and his wife LaVora. He grew up on the family ranch in Cleveland, Idaho where he spent most of his life. JR took great pride in his ranch and cattle herd. His reputation earned him several opportunities to participate in bull judging around the country. At the age of 17, JR enlisted in the US Navy and served his country in World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and married his high school sweetheart, LaVora Bitton, in the Salt Lake City Temple om March 17, 1947. Together they operated the ranch and raised three sons, Steve, Curtis and Lynn. They retired and sold the ranch and moved to Soda Springs where once again his abilities as a farmer showed in the grounds surrounding their home. JR and LaVora enjoyed camping very much and loved to travel with their friends throughout their 69 years of marriage. JR had a great love for the outdoors which included fishing and hunting. What began as his passion was soon passed along to children and grandchildren and also shared with friends. JR was a great influence on many young men in the Cleveland Ward where he guided them to earn their Eagle Scout awards. He also served as a member of the bishopric in that ward. He will be missed by his family; Steve and Tamra, their three children and eight grandchildren, Curtis and Kathleen, their four children and eight grandchildren and Lynn and Radean, their four children and twelve grandchildren. Also surviving him are three brothers-in-law, Duane (Lovene) Bitton, Keith (Judy) Bitton and Jim Strigle. Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel in Niter at Noon. Family will visit with friends on Friday morning from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. JR will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Listen to service
