Lucille Helen Reese Hirsbrunner, cherished mother and grandmother passed away gently at her son David's home in Kaysville, Utah on April 9, 2017. She was born in the family home November 29th, 1921 to Marie Beatrice Petersen and Albert John Reese in Wayan, Idaho. She was the second child born into the family of 4.
She attended schools in Wayan, Idaho and grew up during the great depression, learning the value of hard work, sacrifice, and family.
She married her sweetheart Walter Hirsbrunner on March 30, 1939 in Soda Springs, Idaho. They started their married life on a little farm in Grays Lake and milking 8-10 cows. Their first daughter, Carol was born in 1940 while they were living there. Walt and Lucille then moved to Meridian where Walter was hired as a butter maker and their second daughter Lora was born in 1943. In 1944, Walter bought out Ernest Brogs interest in the Grays Lake cheese factory and soon joined the army. During this time Walt's dad and Lucille ran the cheese factory. After her husband returned home in 1946, she continued to work by the side of Walt, making superior cheese. She was a dedicated wife and mother. Their son Walter Wayne was born in 1948. After they moved to Soda Springs their daughter Elizabeth (Betty) was born in 1957 and their son David in 1960.
She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren who have been the recipient of her beautiful afghans, quilts and other hand work. She was fortunate to have all of her children and grandchildren remain close and she mastered the art of following, encouraging and celebrating the lives and accomplishments of each. She had the privilege and felt very fortunate to have traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia and Europe 3 times. Her favorite was Switzerland, the ancestral country of her husband Walt.
Lucille was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a testimony of the truthfulness of it. She and Walter were sealed in the Logan LDS temple on May 30, 1998. She is survived by 4 children, 19 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her daughter Carol, a granddaughter AnneMarie Keetch, and two sons in law, Thomas Keetch and Lenard Williams. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, John Reese and Ray Reese and a sister Elnora Reese Vonberg.
Funeral services will be Thursday April 13th at noon at the Soda Springs Hooper LDS Chapel with a prior viewing from 9:30 to 11:30.
