Soda Springs, Idaho… Margaret Ida Roper Panting, 92 passed away on March 19, 2023 in Malad, Idaho at the home of her son. She was born to Benson Suel and Vera Steinbeck Roper on April 26th,1930 in Thatcher, Idaho. She grew up and attended school in Thatcher and graduated from Grace High School.

She married Farrell Blaine Panting on May 8,1950. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple May 8, 1951. Shortly after their marriage they moved to the ranch in Trail Canyon east of Soda Springs. They lived there together for over 60 years. They had three children, Rauhn, Chad, and Mary.

She was a lifelong lover of education both gospel and temporal. She attended Utah State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in elementary education in 1972. She taught at Hooper and Thirkill Elementary Schools for 30 years and substituted well into her eighties. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening.

She is survived by her two children: Rauhn (Nancy) Panting of Malad, Idaho and Mary (Matt) Jensen of Ovid, Idaho, 6 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Blaine, her son Chad, and 2 brothers Rex and Rodney Roper.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 12 noon at the Bailey Creek Church 281 S. 3rd East in Soda Springs, Idaho. Friends may call at the church on Thursday prior to services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs
