IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marianne Reese
Hawker
January 8, 1930 – October 19, 2023
Marianne Reese Hawker, 93 years young, entered eternal rest on October 19th, 2023, surrounded by her 3 daughters at her home in Ammon, ID.
Marianne was born January 8, 1930 to Chester Grosvenor and Agnes Eone {Arner} Reese in Boise Idaho. In 1947 she was living with her mother and attending high school in Blackfoot when she met the love of her life George Guy Hawker, of Soda Springs. They were married June 1, 1947, and later married and sealed in the Logan temple in 1965. They celebrated 65+ years when George passed away in 2012. In those years they had 3 children, Chester Dean (deceased 2022), Georgann HawkerWilliams, and Sheryl {Sherrie} Hawker. In 1963 at the death of her mother, Marianne and George without hesitation became the legal guardians of her youngest sister Mary Lou {Morgan}Allenwhen she was 14. She has since been another daughter to them, and a sister to their 3 children.
George was logging the early years of their marriage, so they moved often in Idaho and Montana to follow the work. Then in 1958, they moved back to Soda Springs to be closer to family and raise their children. Marianne received a certificate as a licensed LPN and worked at Caribou County Hospital until 1969. Their children had all flown the nest, so they moved to Alaska in pursuit of work. Over the years, they maintained a home in Alaska and Boise. Marianne earned a certificate in Bookkeeping in Alaska, and worked in that field for several years. They left Alaska when George retired in 1984, building a home in Garden Valley, ID. Both being explorers decided to sell the home in 1995 and traveled in their RV until 2001. They re-settled in the Boise area until after George's death. Mariannegradually lost her site to macular degeneration over the years, so in 2019, she moved along with her daughter Georgann toAmmon, Id where her other 2 daughters are.
Marianne loved her family more than anything, and nothing made her happier than to have them all gathered around or reunions with extended family and friends. Her 2nd passion was Genealogy. To her death she was the keeper of family history, often imparting her knowledge to family members upon their request. She had a winning smile and a fun and adventurous spirit. She and George made friends easily, nurturing and keeping those friendships over their lifetime.
She is survived by her 3 daughters Mary Lou {Larry}, Georgann and Sherrie, 8 grandsons, 14 great- grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday Oct. 27 at the Hooper LDS Ward in Soda Springs. A viewing will be heldbefore the service at 9:30-10:30 am with a private family viewing 10:30 to 11. Following the service, a graveside servicewill be at the Fairview Cemetery. A luncheon will be held back at the church at 1 pm.
