Marianne was born in Evanston, WY to Rulon and Agnes Marshall on October 8, 1940. She spent her formative years growing up in Evanston until her high school graduation in 1959. During her time in Evanston she worked as a soda-jerk at the local pharmacy, and was a lifeguard at the local pool.
Upon high school graduation, Marianne attended nursing school at the St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, in Denver, CO, for the next 3 years, where she was awarded her nursing degree and became a registered nurse. This was special to Marianne as this was the same school her mother attended many years before.
Marianne married her high school sweetheart, Byron Shaw, prior to her final year at nursing school. Upon her graduation, she joined Byron in Logan Utah, where she worked at the Logan hospital and helped him complete his education. At this time she earned her PHT (Putting Hubby Through) from Utah State University.
The young couple moved to Bancroft, ID, where Marianne started her career at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, ID and Byron started his teaching career. They later moved to Grace, Idaho. She was dedicated and compassionate with her job as observed by patients and co-workers alike. She constantly sought out further education opportunities to provide the best service for her patients.
Marianne loved her family, and supported her children and grandchildren in all their various activities. She was also an avid reader, who was rarely without a book in her hand.
Marianne was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in various capacities. She developed a strong testimony at a young age. Byron and Marianne served as ordinance workers for several years in the Logan Utah Temple. They were also called to the Uganda, Kampala Africa mission, where they served as the country humanitarian directors for 18 months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rulon and Agnes Marshall, brother Thomas Marshall, and two sons, Christopher Byron and Michael Alan. She is survived by her husband, Byron, and her children, son Steven Shaw (Stacey) of Pleasant Grove, UT, daughter Karen Yatzun (John) of Boise, ID, son David Shaw (Rachel) of Meridian, ID, daughter Deborah Tyler (Casey) of Boise, ID, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Encompass hospice care, and members of the church and community who provided help and service to our dear wife and mom.
