Marie Leta Butterfield Baker, 95; of Bancroft passed away Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.
Marie was born March 2, 1914 in Scribner, Nebraska the daughter of Elmer Wallace and Delia Elizabeth Clauson Butterfield.
When she was four years old she moved to Baker, Oregon and at the age of 7 she moved to Salmon, Idaho in a covered wagon and lived there until her mid 40's. She married William "Bill" Cecil Baker on June 6, 1947 in Missoula, Montana. They lived in Idaho, Montana, Utah and Oregon until they settled in Wayan, Idaho in 1969. "Bill" passed away April 6, 1988 and in 1990 Marie moved to Bancroft, Idaho.
Marie enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, snowmachining, camping, boating, hunting and other outdoor activities. She also liked to dance, needlework, listening to music, watching birds and visiting with her neighbors and reading Louise L'Amour and Nora Roberts Books. The only TV She enjoyed watching was Walker Texas Ranger, Murder She Wrote and Matlock.
She is survived by one son Dan and Carol Baker of Bancroft, ID; and two daughters Elsie Bowman and Bonnie Butters both of Idaho Falls, ID; and 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Beatrice Pyeatt of Salmon, ID. She was preceded in death by one son Dale Baker, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren and four brothers.
Services were held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Bancroft LDS Ward Chapel. Interment was on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Salmon Cemetery in Salmon, Idaho.
