IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion Louise
Hunt
July 5, 1925 – December 16, 2022
Marion Louise Reed Hunt, 97, of Pocatello Idaho, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022,
after a long and fulfilling life.
Marion was born on July 5, 1925 in Commerce, Missouri a daughter to Bernard and Minerva
Reed.
She grew up in St. Lewis Missouri and its neighboring suburbs until the age 18 when she moved
to Gary Indiana to live with her aunt and get her license in cosmetology.
She married a service member of the army, Vernal Jackson Hunt on February 24, 1946, in
Blackfoot Idaho. They lived in Pocatello Idaho while Vernal (Jack) worked faithfully on the
railroad, and Marion (Louise) worked primarily as an attendance secretary at Pocatello
Highschool where she remained for 23 years.
Though raised Catholic, Louise became converted a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints in 1948. She and Jack had 3 children, Val James Hunt, Karen Louise Hunt, and
Joy Lyn Lloyd. Jack and Louise took their family to the Idaho Falls Temple to be sealed for time
and all eternity in November of 1967. Since then, Louise served as relief Society President,
Stake Young Women's Counselor, Primary teacher, and Sunday school teacher among others.
Louise was distinguished by her strong testimony of her savior, her intense love of her family
and her fiery personality and ability to make anyone feel loved. Though her heart was defined
by her husband, children, and grandchildren, she was surrounded by voluntary kin in the
community who found themselves drawn in by her charisma and encompassing compassion.
She is survived by two children: Val James Hunt and Joy Lyn Lloyd, and her many Grandchildren
and great grandchildren who loved her very much.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2022, at 11:00am at Sims Funeral
