Marion Alice Sims Shappart, 95, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at her home in Pocatello.
She was born on April 23, 1921 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Frederick W. and Alice C. Frost Sims.
She married Harold Robert Shappart on January 3, 1942 in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 16, 1962. They lived in Portland, Oregon a short while and then moved to Virginia, Idaho where they lived for 56 years and then moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1999.
Marion was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had held various calling in Sunday School, Primary, relief Society and M.I.A. She had also served as a Pink Lady.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, dutch oven cooking, camping and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time with family and babysitting.
Marion is survived by two sons, Kent H. (Jackie) Shappart of Springfield, OR, Dennis S. (Gayle) Shappart of Pocatello, ID. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Shappart, a daughter Janet Kay Stokes, two brothers, Jack Sims and Earl Sims and a grandson Mathew Stokes.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, at the Virginia Ward Chapel at 1 p.m. Family will visit with friends on Friday 6-8 p.m. at the Church and Saturday 11:30-12:30 prior to services. Burial will be in the Downey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah or the Virginia Ward Missionary fund.
