Obituary

Bancroft, Idaho

MarJean Smith Rindlisbaker passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026.  She was surrounded by loved ones in the last days of her life.  With her loving spouse, Terry Rindlisbaker, by her side.  It was no coincidence that she passed at the same time as her mother, Bregretta.  We know that there were many loved ones that were there welcoming her home, including her son Bart, and grandson Peyton whom she missed so much!

MarJean was born on April 11, 1942, to Lester and Bregretta Smith of Bancroft, Idaho.  MarJean was the youngest of seven.  Thinking they were done after their family of six, a decade later they welcomed MarJean, who quickly became a joy to the family.  Mom was one of the last deliveries of Dr. Kackley and was one of several who received the name "Margaret" after his daughter.  After mom was born and before she went home, Dr. Kackley would take her home with him after his shifts at the hospital.  When she was brought home, they kept her in a shoe box under the family stove to keep her warm. Maybe this is where her need to keep the house so hot came from.

MarJean graduated from North Gem High school in 1960.  The day after she graduated, she married her high school sweetheart, Terry in the Logan, Utah LDS temple.  The couple made their home for the first 8 years of their life in Pocatello.  MarJean worked for the Idaho State University Library.  After Terry graduated from Idaho State University, the couple moved back to Bancroft and started their lifelong love of farming, except for the milking cow's part.  MarJean and Terry worked side by side tirelessly on the farm.  You could always find her during harvest time picking spuds or taking the best treats out to everyone.  Even though she worked so hard outside of the home, you could always find something to eat in the breadbox and three homemade meals on the table.

MarJean was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She held several church callings where she served diligently.  She served in every capacity from stake to ward callings including one of her favorites as Den Mother.

Mom was never idle; she was always busy.  She loved cross stitching and shared this talent with several.  She always had a Taste of Home magazine open to a new recipe she was going to try.

MarJean is survived by her husband Terry of 65 years, her three children: Camille (Bob) Monk, Blair (Stephanie) Rindlisbaker, Renee (Ted) Bunderson.  Several grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, Bart (Son), Peyton (Grandson), Scotty (Great-grandson).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1 with a viewing prior to services from 11:30-12:30 at the Bancroft LDS church house, 311 S Main St., Bancroft.  Interment services at the Central cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Franson, and the Caribou medical nursing staff who provided such love and care for our mother during her time at Soda Springs Medical Center.
