Obituary

Mary Alene Hogan Treasure, 88; a long time resident of Chesterfield, Idaho passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Quail Ridge Assisted Living Center in Pocatello where she and her husband have resided for the past three years.

Mary Alene was born on November 26, 1922 at Hatch, Idaho the daughter of Joseph Cleveland and Henrietta Ruger Hogan.

She married William Jean Treasure on July 16, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007 at the Bancroft LDS Church.

She attended the University of Idaho-Southern Branch and received her teaching certificate. She taught the first kindergarten in North Gem in 1955.

Mary Alene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served in many positions in the Chesterfield Ward including Ward Choir Director and chorister.

She also was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also enjoyed singing duets with her sister Henrietta. She loved writing poetry and stories and plays. Every Christmas Eve she gave a program at the Chesterfield Church with her two puppets she made in college.

Mary Alene is survived by her husband Jean Treasure. She is also survived by her sister Henrietta Hogan of Bancroft, ID; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and a sister Marjorie Hogan Bodily and a brother Joseph Glen Hogan, also an aunt and uncle Chris and Annie Ruger Call who were second parents to her.

Services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Noon at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs. The family will visit with friends on Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to services. Interment will follow at the Chesterfield Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center or a charity of your choice.
