Obituary

Mary Helen Whittemore Sibbett, 92; of Wayan, Idaho passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Mary was born on December 25, 1919 in Ashton, Idaho the daughter of Richard and Flora Sterret Whittemore.

She graduated from Ashton High School and furthered her education at ISU where she received her Associates Degree and also at U.S.U. where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education.

She married Russell Sibbett on June 14, 1942 in Ashton, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

Mary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she had served in various positions.

She had lived in Ashton, Grays Lake and Soda Springs and enjoyed spending her winters in Pocatello, Park City, UT and Las Lunas, NM.

Mary enjoyed working the polls at elections. She was also active in the Farm Bureau. She taught elementary school for many years. She was a member of the Idaho Education Association, National Beef Association, Public Land Council and taught 4-H.

She loved birds and wildlife, outdoor activities, traveling, entertaining, sewing, playing games and especially her family.

She is survived by one son and two daughters, Michael and Joyce Sibbett, of Park City, UT; Mary Jo Sibbett of Pocatello, ID; Barbara Campbell of Las Lunas, NM.; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Sibbett, and a brother Leslie Whittemore, and two sisters Lorraine Whittemore and Lois Whittemore.

Services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper LDS Chapel in Soda Springs. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
