Obituary

Maxine Rasmussen Hildreth was born in Niter, Idaho to Carl and Beryl Rasmussen on November 12, 1941.

The world is better for the time she spent here with us. Maxine lived an extraordinary life and she did it on her own terms. When she was a small child, she was diagnosed with polio. It was from that tender age that she learned to be a fighter. Her courage and strength have influenced the lives of everyone around her.

She attended Grace High and married her high school sweetheart Rick Garbett.  Together they had four children and traveled the globe with the military.

She was later remarried in December 1994 after falling in love with a cowboy named Larry.

Maxine graduated from Weber State University with a Masters Degree in Education and taught for many years in Utah and Idaho. She instilled in others a great love of learning, reading, and music. She was an accomplished pianist and played the organ beautifully.

Her no-nonsense, take the bull by the horns philosophy taught us that we can do hard things. Her positive attitude and ever sunny outlook served as a constant reminder that there is so much to be grateful for. From her, we learned how to live better and love bigger. Family was at the heart of everything she did.

Maxine loved winters in St. George and treasured her summers in Diamond Creek. She found pleasure in the small and simple things and lived her life with true joy.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2020 she passed into the next life surrounded by her children

and eternal companion. She leaves behind a legacy of love for all of her forever family.

Spouse, Larry Hildreth; Children, Sue (Paul) Braden, Sarah (Jason) Poulsen, Todd (Jen) Garbett, Mandy Garbett
