IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maxine H.
Wilker
November 24, 1923 – October 9, 2019
Maxine Hogan Wilker, born November 24, 1923 at her family's ranch in Grace, Idaho, passed away on October 9, 2019.
She attended Cove School in her early youth for 8 years and then graduated from Thatcher High School where she was Valedictorian, Cheerleader and the first female Student Body President. She loved dancing and the Big Bands especially Glen Miller. Maxine and her two sisters, according to their father, were the best hay crew in the Valley where they worked in the fields every day all summer long. Her favorite horse was Toby, a buckskin beauty.
Married Max Wilker when he returned from being a Japanese prisoner of war in WWII. They raised seven children. Later divorced. Maxine stayed on the ranch - her childhood home. She loved the ranch life, especially working cattle and going on the round-ups! She entertained and served countless family members and friends at our favorite haven, Maxine's Bed and Breakfast.
Maxine received her Bachelor's Degree from Utah State University. She taught school for 22 years and many claimed that she was their favorite teacher. She thoroughly enjoyed helping her students to learn and was always trying out new methods, experimenting on her seven children first.
Maxine was on the Grace Public Library Board for over forty years. She was also Secretary/Treasurer of the Gentile Valley Irrigation Company. She was active in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of her biggest blessings was serving in the Logan Temple for 13 years.
Survived by: Five Children- Craig (Janice) Wilker; Wade (Margie) Wilker; Patty Elzinga; Shane Wilker; Jon (Rhonda) Wilker; One Daughter-in-law Pamela Profaizer Wilker; Twenty-one Grandchildren; Forty-four Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Grover (Dode) and Jane Hogan; brother, Ceylon Hogan; sisters, Hortense Child Smith, Rhea Hogan; son, Curtis Hogan Wilker; daughter, Pamela Wilker Cook; two grandsons, Sam Cook, Weston Wilker; and great grand-daughter, Josie Sears.
