Obituary

Maynard Allan Bennett passed away at his home on February 4, 2015 at the age of 73. Maynard was born in Soda Springs, Idaho to Allan and Ruth Miles Bennett on July 3, 1941. He was raised on his parent's farm in Niter along with his sister Evelyn. He attended elementary and high school in Grace and graduated in 1960. He loved sports of every variety and spent hours practicing with family and friends. He later served in the National Guard for six years. Maynard married Lora Lee Viehweg in Soda Springs, Idaho on May 3, 1968 and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on August 25, 1970. Maynard and Lori lived in Niter, Arco, Soda Springs and finally bought a small acreage in Thatcher where they raised their family and he spent the last 33 years of his life. Maynard always wanted a family, and loved being a dad. In 1969 their first child, Koby was born, followed by Kamian, Hal, Mitchell and Zachary. His family was the most important part of his life and he never missed any event in which a family member participated. He loved the youth in the area and was a loyal fan of Grace High School sports and other school activities. Maynard spent his career working in the maintenance department at the Agrium CPO facility. There he made many friendships which he cherished throughout his life. Maynard was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings. His favorite calling was as the Regional Athletic director where he coordinated the church basketball and softball leagues. He truly appreciated good sportsmanship and believed a person's character could be judged by how they conducted themselves on the basketball courts and softball diamonds. Maynard was a quiet, humble, and unassuming man who worked hard, and loved his family, the mountains, and the simple joys in life. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Lori, his four sons and one daughter: Koby (Heather) Bennett of Lewiston , Utah, Kamian Stevens of Meridian, Idaho, Hal (Sarah) Bennett of Rigby Idaho, Mitchell Bennett of Kennewick, Washington and Zachary (Chalee') Bennett of Idaho Falls. He is also survived by his mother Ruth Bennett, sister Evelyn Hunsaker and fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Allan V. Bennett and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Noon at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel in Niter, Idaho. Family will visit with friends on Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the Church and also Monday 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Listen to service
