Melva J. Gollihugh Petersen passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

She was born to Jean and Willard Gollihugh, July 30, 1947 in Pocatello, Idaho.  Her siblings are Priscilla, Cliff, Yvonne and Patrick.

Melva graduated from Highland High in 1965.  She moved to Soda at the age of 19 and met Robert (Bob) J. Petersen and they were married on September 28, 1967 in Elko, Nevada.  They had two children, Melinda Rae and Robert Clay.

She enjoyed a wonderful life hunting, fishing and spent the majority of the time riding through the mountains as a family singing songs and seeing wildlife.  She also enjoyed sewing and taking photos.

Melinda had three children, Sean Michael Tarbet and Jon Makenzy Tarbet and Sierra Hunter Tarbet. We lost Sierra Jan. 12, 1994 and Clay on Sept. 6, 1994.  She was devastated but loved her grandchildren more than life itself and felt blessed to have many more years with them.  Bob died of cancer April 30, 2014 after 47 years of marriage but she carried on.  She was then blessed with the great grandkids. Jon Tarbet with Sarah M Tarbet had her fist Kaib Dean and Jon with Devyn Getty had Dakota Rose.  Sean M. Tarbet with Autumn Higginson blessed her with Embry Hunter Tarbet.  They were her world.  She loved and adored them all and was so thankful for the time she had with them.

She is survived by her brother Patrick Gollihugh, daughter Melinda Petersen Hyde, Grandsons and great grandchildren, nephews and Jacob Gollihugh and family, Willard Gollihugh, Sean Gollihugh and Family, Candy Gollihugh and family.  Along with her extended Petersen family whom she loved and cared for so very much.

The family would like to have an opportunity to hear stories and memories form anyone who would be will in speak.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
