Obituary

Monna Jean Lienemann, 70, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 from a massive stroke at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID.

Monna was born on May 8, 1948 the daughter of Rex Dray and Colleen Dawn Hayes Layland in Soda Springs, Idaho.

She graduated from Grace High School and then attended LDS Business College where she also graduated.

Monna married James Arnold Lienemann on August 13, 1968 in Elko, Nevada. Monna was a faithful military spouse, traveling across the world with Jim for 50 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served as Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Primary President and was very active in Family History and Temple Work.

Monna was also active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Food Pantry. While stationed in Germany she volunteered with evacuations.

Monna loved life and shared a smile or compliment with everyone she met. She enjoyed genealogy, sewing and crafting and loved spending time with family. Family included everyone she loved and brought in as her own.

Monna is survived by her husband James Arnold Lienemann of Blackfoot, ID, and three sons and three daughters, Sean (Pam) Lienemann of Blackfoot, ID, Jeff (Annette) Lienemann of Carmichael, CA, Dray (Jacob) Lienemann of Marysville, CA, MaeDawn (Glen) Young of Blackfoot, ID, Becky (Scott) Whitaker of Yuba City, CA, Callie (Mike) White of Riverton, UT. She is also survived by 18 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren, a brother Frank (Lesa) Layland of Scottsdale, AZ, and three sisters, Mary Lee Hamp of Soda Springs, ID, Ann (Blake) Poulsen of Soda Springs, ID, Sue (Doug) Pavlick of Douglas, WY.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Colleen Layland, father Rex Layland, stepfather, Bud Whitworth, a grandniece, Amelia Rice, two nephews Jordan and Jeremy Hamp, father-in-law Ernest Lienemann, and brother-in-law Dale Hamp.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Soda Springs Hooper LDS Chapel (281 East Hooper Ave.). Family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Soda Springs Fairview Cemetery.
