Monty "Mont" Edmund Faulkner, 76, of Bancroft, Idaho passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Soda Springs. Mont was born on February 25, 1941 in Chesterfield, Idaho. The son of Ted and Iola Bowman Faulkner. He married Rae Lee Guidinger in Lorenzo, Idaho on September 2, 1966. They just celebrated their 50thWedding Anniversary this year. Mont lived in southeast Idaho his entire life. He grew up on the family ranch, enjoyed high school rodeo where he won a state title for steer wrestling and attended the National High School Rodeo Championship in 1957. He attended Utah State University for three years then transferred to Idaho State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in history, but never stopped learning. He participated in continuing education classes and read many books throughout the years. Mont began his career as the Tribal Secretary for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe. After the loss of his father and brother Kim, he moved back to Chesterfield to manage the family ranch where he raised cattle and farmed for many years. Later is in his life, he worked for Mark 3 up until retirement. Mont enjoyed the outdoors and ranch life. Mont loved his family, but was passionate about his time spent thinking and philosophizing while working at "the ranch." He enjoyed the many pets he had, dogs and cats, which followed him around everywhere. He will be remembered by his family for his time spent reading and writing down his thoughts in his many notebooks. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and was a very positive and supportive man. He will be remembered for his dedication to the decorating and upkeep of the Christmas lights at Teuscher Square. Mont and Rae Lee were always very proud of their hard work. He is survived by his wife Rae Lee Faulkner, son Ryan Faulkner of Pocatello, ID and daughter Donielle and Trent Whitney of Chubbuck, ID. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Ashlee and Zachary Whitney. He was preceded in death by his brothers Roy Faulkner, Frank Faulkner, Kim Faulkner, Drift Faulkner. Services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12 pm at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. Family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Sims Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Chesterfield Cemetery. Listen to service
