Obituary

Myrle Lindsey Smith, 88, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at a Health Care Facility in Sandy, Utah. She was born May 13, 1920 the daughter of Franklin Letcher Lindsey and Laura Beatrice Bell Lindsey.

She graduated from South High School in 1936. Myrle had also lived in Sandy, Utah until 1978; she then moved to Canby Oregon, Liberty, Illinois, Brentwood, Tennessee and Buford, Georgia.
She married Joseph Byron Gold Smith; they were married 60 years until his death in 2002.
With her husband she owned and operated the Center Drive-Inn on State Street in Sandy for 25 years.

Myrle was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a full time mission in Independence, Missouri and Tempe, Arizona. She was a temple worker in the Seattle and Nashville Temples.

She was an active member in the Silver Spurs ladies riding club for many years.

Myrle is survived by a son Byron Lindsey Smith, daughter in-law, Bonnie Tingey Smith, five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Frank Forest Lindsey and sisters Quata Lindsey Howells and Wanda Lindsey Griep.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, September 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the Parkway LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, located at 3407 W 9625 So in South Jordan. Burial was in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 3401 Highland Drive.
