Obituary

Myrle Dean Hildreth Steele, 89; of Soda Springs passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at her home in Soda Springs. Myrle was born on August 19, 1922 in Soda Springs, Idaho the daughter of William Scudder and Joshephine Meldona Burchfield Hildreth. She was raised in Soda Springs and Long Beach, California. She married Val Steele on December 11, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho and moved to the ranch in Lago, ID. She moved back to Soda Springs during WWII with son Billy. Then she and Val raised cattle together until 1984 when they retired. In 1964 she entered Business School in Pocatello and learned computers, shorthand and typing. She was raised as a Presbyterian and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1950. She had served as Mutual President and Teacher in Lago for many years and also served in the Relief Society. Besides being a farmer's wife she worked for the Ford Dealership, JC Penny's and then was a Draft Clerk for the Selective Service. She also organized Red Cross for Caribou County twice. She was a gold star mother. She was very active in the American Legion as Local, State and National President and Page. She was National Children Youth President. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, pinochle and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Myrle is survived by three daughters, Glenna Jean and Lynn Rasmussen of Lago, ID; Sherry Lynn and Dean Beckstead of Soda Springs, ID; Alice Faye and Val Gibson of Soda Springs, ID. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Val, a son Billy, and two grandsons Devin Beckstead and Jared Rasmussen, and 4 brothers and 1 sister, William "Lambert", LaVeil Joseph, Faye Alice, LaVern Franklin and Carroll John. Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Noon at the Soda Springs 1st Ward Building (361 South 3rd East). The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Caribou County Veterans Memorial Fund. Listen to services:
